Effects of the Nitrification Inhibitor 3,4-Dimethylpyrazole Phosphate on Nitrification and Nitrifiers in Two Contrasting Agricultural Soils
TL;DR: Compared the impacts of DMPP on nitrification and the dynamics of ammonia oxidizers between an acidic pasture soil and an alkaline vegetable soil using a 15N tracing and 13CO2-DNA–stable-isotope probing (SIP) technique, this work provides evidence that D MPP could effectively inhibit nitrification through impeding the abundance and metabolic activity of AOB in the alkaline vegetables soil.

Indigenous Knowledge and Long-term Ecological Change: Detection, Interpretation, and Responses to Changing Ecological Conditions in Pacific Island Communities
Matthew Lauer,Shankar Aswani +1 more
TL;DR: Assessment of abilities to monitor long-term ecological change among artisanal fishers in Roviana Lagoon, Solomon Islands suggests that villagers detect long- term changes in the spatial cover of rapidly expanding seagrass meadows.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate change and trade in agriculture
TL;DR: In this article, a well-functioning international trading system can support the adaptation to climate change-related challenges and welfare gains from reforms to trade policies may be greater than normally measured if they also reduce GHG emissions globally.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of phasing out fossil fuel subsidies on the low-carbon transition
Irene Monasterolo,Marco Raberto +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors extend the EIRIN Stock-Flow Consistent behavioral model to study the implications on sustainable development of the gradual phasing out of fossil fuels subsidies, whose revenues could be used by the government to subsidize energy investments in green capital (e.g. solar panels), either via fiscal policies or green bonds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling impacts of climate change on arable crop diseases: progress, challenges and applications.
TL;DR: Impact assessments are still concentrated on few crops and few diseases but are beginning to investigate arable crop disease dynamics at the landscape level, and the use of multi-model ensembles is contributing towards measures of uncertainty in climate change impact projections.

TL;DR: ERA-40 is a re-analysis of meteorological observations from September 1957 to August 2002 produced by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in collaboration with many institutions as mentioned in this paper.

Climate Extremes: Observations, Modeling, and Impacts
David R. Easterling,Gerald A. Meehl,Camille Parmesan,Stanley A. Changnon,Thomas R. Karl,Linda O. Mearns +5 more
TL;DR: Results of observational studies suggest that in many areas that have been analyzed, changes in total precipitation are amplified at the tails, and changes in some temperature extremes have been observed.
