A conceptual framework for understanding rebound effects with renewable electricity: A new challenge for decarbonizing the electricity sector

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors develop a conceptual framework for investigating rebound effects that occur consequent to increases in renewable electricity generation and use, which is vitally important due to countries' emerging commitments to decarbonize economies through sector-coupling and strategies such as the large-scale use of green hydrogen produced by electrolysis from renewable electricity.

Heterogeneous direct rebound effect: Theory and evidence from the Energy Star program

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a theoretical model that shows the sign of the direct rebound effect depends on the type of energy service and showed that negative rebound effects amplify energy savings, while positive rebound effects offset energy savings from using more efficient technologies.

Vacation Travel Behaviour in a Very Different Future

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors develop and empirically test advanced portfolio vacation choice models to predict changes in vacation travel behavior and how policy-makers can prepare for these changes, which can help governments and tourism industries to respond more adequately when the probability on an unconventional change becomes real.

Economics and consumer behavior

TL;DR: Deaton and Muellbauer as mentioned in this paper introduced generations of students to the economic theory of consumer behaviour and used it in applied econometrics, including consumer index numbers, household characteristics, demand, and household welfare comparisons.

Technology, Prices, and the Derived Demand for Energy

TL;DR: In this article, an industrial demand for energy is essentially a derived demand: the firm's demand for the energy is an input, derived from demand for a firm's output, which is an output.

Individual Discount Rates and the Purchase and Utilization of Energy-Using Durables

TL;DR: In this article, a model of individual behavior in the purchase and utilization of energy-using durables is presented, where the tradeoff between capital costs for more energy efficient appliances and operating costs for the appliances is emphasized.

Economic Implications of Mandated Efficiency in Standards for Household Appliances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the indiscriminate use of mandated standards will backfire, but a mix of selective standards and reliance on prices as a restraint can be effective.

Qualitative Choice Analysis: Theory, Econometrics, and an Application to Automobile Demand

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed study of automobile demand and use, presenting forecasts based on the powerful new techniques of qualitative choice analysis and standard regression techniques, which are combined to analyze situations that neither alone can accurately forecast.
