Squaring the energy efficiency circle: evaluating industry energy efficiency policy in a hybrid model setting

TL;DR: In this paper, the IntERACT model, a Danish hybrid model, captures the simultaneity and interaction between three primary effects: an activity, a price, and a technical effect, and finds that a specific energy efficiency policy leads to an additional reduction in industrial energy use of around 5% in the year 2030.

Endogenous transformation of exogenous effects in a system dynamics model of heating, ventilation and rebound

TL;DR: In this article, a different and complementary explanation that shows how rebound may occur when occupants feel thermally comfortable throughout the day is proposed. But this effect does not fully translate into energy consumption reductions because occupants increase their dwellings' internal temperatures rather than only reducing energy bills.

The expert-layperson divide in design for sustainable behaviour: Related risks and the value of involvement

TL;DR: In this article, the authors address ethical issues arising when developing technologies intended to influence behaviour, and discuss how and to what extent adaptation and application of user-centred and participatory techniques can contribute to limiting such threats.

Technology, Prices, and the Derived Demand for Energy

TL;DR: In this article, an industrial demand for energy is essentially a derived demand: the firm's demand for the energy is an input, derived from demand for a firm's output, which is an output.

Individual Discount Rates and the Purchase and Utilization of Energy-Using Durables

TL;DR: In this article, a model of individual behavior in the purchase and utilization of energy-using durables is presented, where the tradeoff between capital costs for more energy efficient appliances and operating costs for the appliances is emphasized.

Economic Implications of Mandated Efficiency in Standards for Household Appliances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the indiscriminate use of mandated standards will backfire, but a mix of selective standards and reliance on prices as a restraint can be effective.

Qualitative Choice Analysis: Theory, Econometrics, and an Application to Automobile Demand

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a detailed study of automobile demand and use, presenting forecasts based on the powerful new techniques of qualitative choice analysis and standard regression techniques, which are combined to analyze situations that neither alone can accurately forecast.
