TLDR
In this paper, daily total precipitation data derived from CaPA, ERA-Interim, ERA5, JRA-55, MERRA-2 and NLDAS-2 are evaluated over the Assiniboine River Basin (ARB), which represents many of the hydro-climatological complexities associated with the Northern Great Plains.

Evaluation of the ERA5 reanalysis precipitation dataset over Chinese Mainland

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the accuracy of the newly released fifth-generation reanalysis product of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), i.e., ERA5, for precipitation estimates over Chinese Mainland during 2003-2015.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance evaluation of satellite- and model-based precipitation products over varying climate and complex topography

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated GPM IMERGv05, TMPA 3B42V7, ERA-Interim, and ERA5 precipitation products using 256 ground-based gauge stations between 2014 and 2018 over Turkey known to have complex topography and varying climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial performance of multiple reanalysis precipitation datasets on the southern slope of central Himalaya

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed evaluation of the spatial precipitation patterns presented by the ERA-Interim, ERA-5, ERA5-Land, and refined HAR datasets with spatial resolutions from coarse to fine (0.7°, 0.25°, and 0.1°, respectively) over the southern slope of central Himalaya, Nepal.

The NCEP/NCAR 40-Year Reanalysis Project

TL;DR: The NCEP/NCAR 40-yr reanalysis uses a frozen state-of-the-art global data assimilation system and a database as complete as possible, except that the horizontal resolution is T62 (about 210 km) as discussed by the authors.

NCEP–DOE AMIP-II Reanalysis (R-2)

TL;DR: The NCEP-DOE Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project (AMIP-II) reanalysis is a follow-on project to the "50-year" (1948-present) N CEP-NCAR Reanalysis Project.

The Version 2 Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) Monthly Precipitation Analysis (1979-Present)

TL;DR: The Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) version 2 Monthly Precise Analysis as discussed by the authors is a merged analysis that incorporates precipitation estimates from low-orbit satellite microwave data, geosynchronous-orbit-satellite infrared data, and rain gauge observations.
