TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.
Abstract
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.

Dam break modelling, risk assessment and uncertainty analysis for flood mitigation

TL;DR: In this paper, a range of modelling techniques are explored to deal effectively with flood risk management, focusing on floods caused by failure of hydraulic structures such as dams and dikes, where numerical, statistical and constraint based methods are applied to the problem of breach modelling and flood water mitigation.

An equation for bed-load transport capacities in gravel-bed rivers

TL;DR: In this article, a new concept of bed-load transport capacity for heterogeneous grains in gravel-bed rivers was introduced as the maximum possible transport rate a gravelbed river can have for a given value of dimensionless shear stress, calculated using the median size of bedload grains.

Morphodynamic model of the lower Yellow River: flux or entrainment form for sediment mass conservation?

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compare the results predicted by both the flux and entrainment forms of the Exner equation under conditions simplified from the lower Yellow River (i.e., a significant reduction of sediment supply after the closure of the Xiaolangdi Dam).

Morphodynamics of river bed variation with variable bedload step length

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the 1-D morphodynamics of an erodible bed subject to bedload transport, and perform a systematic analysis of the effects of the nonlocality in the entrainment form of the Exner equation on transient aggradational/degradational bed profiles by using the flux form as a benchmark.

Waves, Currents, and Sediment Transport in the Surf Zone Along Long, Straight Beaches

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical model for predictions of nearshore hydrodynamic characteristics and the local sediment transport rate along long, straight beaches is presented, which consists of wave, surface roller, and nearshore current models.
