TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.
Abstract
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.

Spectral description of migrating bed forms and sediment transport

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluate the evolution of multiscale bed topography as the integral of unit contributions defined through a space-time Fourier decomposition of bed elevations.
Journal ArticleDOI

One-dimensional model for transient flows involving bed-load sediment transport and changes in flow regimes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a simple but rather accurate approximation of the eigenvalues of the system formed by the Saint-Venant-Exner equations, based on the comparison between eigenvalue for the complete system and eigen value for the water phase only.

Using repeat lidar to estimate sediment transport in a steep stream

TL;DR: In this paper, aerial lidar surveys acquired in 2002, 2008, and 2012 are used to quantify such fluxes in Tahoma Creek, a proglacial stream on Mount Rainier, Washington.

Two-dimensional mathematical modelling of local-scour holes

TL;DR: In this paper, a morphological model for the development of local-scour holes behind structures is developed, based on the 2-D Navier Stokes and convection-diffusion equations.

Height and wavelength of alternate bars in rivers: Modelling vs. laboratory experiments

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the wavelength and height of alternate bars as predicted by the model of Schielen et al. with the values measured in several flume experiments, and found that the predictions are in good agreement with the measurements.
