TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.Abstract:
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.read more

On the equilibrium profile of river beds
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the mechanisms responsible for maintaining a quasi-equilibrium bed profile of a river reach sufficiently short to have no significant tributary inputs, assuming the channel banks to be fixed, hence, the case of rivers protected by levees which cannot respond to hydrologic forcing by changing their width like natural rivers.
Modeling a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood Process Chain: The Case of Lake Palcacocha and Huaraz, Peru
Rachel E. Chisolm,Marcelo Somos-Valenzuela,Denny Rivas Gomez,Daene C. McKinney,Cesar Portocarrero Rodriguez +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present simulations of all of the processes involved in a potential GLOF originating from Lake 17 Palcacocha, the source of a previously catastrophic GLOF on December 13, 1941, killing about 18 1800 people in the city of Huaraz, Peru.

On a shallow water model for the simulation of turbidity currents
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for hyperpycnal plumes or turbidity currents is presented that takes into account the interaction between the turbidity current and the bottom, considering deposition and erosion effects as well as solid transport of particles at the bed load due to the current.

Numerical Simulation of Contraction Scour in an Open Laboratory Channel
Bui Minh Duc,Wolfgang Rodi +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a finite-volume computer code developed at the Institute for Hydromechanics, University of Karlsruhe, has been used to calculate the flow and sediment transport in a laboratory channel with constriction and movable bed.

Applicability of Sediment Transport Capacity Formulas to Dam-Break Flows over Movable Beds
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the extent to which well-known sediment transport capacity formulas can be used in one-dimensional (1D) numerical modeling of dam-break waves over movable beds.
