TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.Abstract:
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.read more

The influence of a large anthropogenic sediment source on the fluvial geomorphology of the Knabeåna-Kvina rivers, Norway
TL;DR: In this paper, the results from the Knabeana-Kvina rivers indicate that construction of weirs may stop the dispersion of bedload-sized contaminated sediments, while construction of dams may be necessary to trap contaminated sediment transported in suspension.

A coupled soilscape–landform evolution model: model formulation and initial results
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the coupling of the State Space Soil Production and Assessment Model (SSSPAM) soilscape evolution model with a land-form evolution model to integrate soil profile dynamics and landform evolution.

Lagrangian two-phase flow modeling of scour in front of vertical breakwater
TL;DR: In this paper, a Lagrangian particle-based two-phase flow model is developed to simulate the scouring process induced by standing wave in front of the trunk section of a vertical breakwater.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used both a physical scale model (1:30) and a numerical simulation tool (SETRAC) to evaluate the efficiency of planned measures for torrent hazard mitigation.

Simulation of violent water flows over a movable bed using smoothed particle hydrodynamics
Pourya Omidvar,Pooyan Nikeghbali +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is utilized for the simulation of dam-break propagation over an erodible bed and sediment distribution beneath the steady water flow.
