TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.Abstract:
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.read more

Modelling of non-cohesive sediment transport processes in the marine environment
TL;DR: Sediment transport mechanisms and their mathematical modelling in the marine environment are reviewed in this paper, where the transport of sediment as bed load, sheet flow and suspended load in pure current is described.

Modified Einstein Sediment Transport Method to Simulate the Local Scour Evolution Downstream of a Rigid Bed
Giuseppe Dodaro,Ali Tafarojnoruz,Giampiero Sciortino,Claudia Adduce,Francesco Calomino,Roberto Gaudio +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spatial and temporal scour development downstream of a rigid bed for both a noncohesive sediment bed and a cohesive sediment mixture with relatively small percentage of cohesive material was simulated.

Predicting the rate of scour beneath subsea pipelines in marine sediments under steady flow conditions
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used theoretical arguments to relate the rate of scour beneath a pipeline to the fundamental erosion properties of sediment; namely the transport rate along the bed and the true erosion rate of the sediment, leading to two new empirical formulas that may be used to predict the time scale of the scour process beneath subsea pipelines.

Times Associated With Source-to-Sink Propagation of Environmental Signals During Landscape Transience
TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss factors influencing the times of signal transfer along sediment routing systems and how those times vary with hydraulic grain size characteristics, and discuss the resulting consequence regarding signal preservation in stratigraphy.

Biofilm Responses to Flow Regulation by Dams in Mediterranean Rivers
Lídia Ponsatí,Vicenç Acuña,Ibon Aristi,Maite Arroita,Emili García-Berthou,D. von Schiller,Arturo Elosegi,Sergi Sabater,Sergi Sabater +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of dams on biofilms was analyzed in three tributaries (Cinca, Siurana and Montsant) of the Ebro River (NE Spain).
