TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.
Abstract
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.

Erosion by planar turbulent wall jets

TL;DR: In this article, the scaling laws for the spatial variation of the mean velocity and lateral extent of a two-dimensional turbulent wall jet, flowing over a fixed rough boundary are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling the Evolution of Incised Streams: I. Model Formulation and Validation of Flow and Streambed Evolution Components

TL;DR: In this article, a robust computational model for simulating the long-term evolution of incised and restored or rehabilitated stream corridors is presented, which simulates the three main processes that shape incised streams: hydraulics, sediment transport, and streambed and bank adjustments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling sediment transport in the swash zone: A review

TL;DR: A critical review of conceptual and mathematical models developed in recent decades on sediment transport in the swash zone is presented in this article, which covers mechanisms of sediment transport, important forcing factors, governing equations of wave-induced flow, groundwater interactions, empirical and numerical relations of cross-shore and longshore sediment transport.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two-dimensional sediment transport models in shallow water equations. A second order finite volume approach on unstructured meshes

TL;DR: This paper studies the numerical approximation of bedload sediment transport due to shallow layer flows by considering a Roe-type first order scheme as well as a variant based on the use of flux limiters.

Fluvial sediments a summary of source, transportation, deposition, and measurement of sediment discharge

B.R. Colby
TL;DR: In this article, a broad but undetailed picture of fluvial sediments in streams, reservoirs, and lakes is presented, which includes a discussion of the processes involved in the movement of sediment by flowing water.
