TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.Abstract:
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.read more

Chapter 11 Sediment Transport by Waves and Tides: Problems exemplified by a Study of Swansea Bay, Bristol Channel
M.B. Collins,F.T. Banner +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the noncohesive mobile sediments of Swansea Bay that originated almost wholly by derivation from submarine relict deposits, their erosion from sea bed, and their transportation along it to the littoral by the hydrodynamic mechanisms that occur, singly and in combination.

Modal versus nonmodal linear stability analysis of river dunes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the non-normality of the linearized mathematical operator which rules the initial value problem, in order to detect possible transient growths and make a comparison with the picture described by the outcome of the eigenvalue problem.

Prediction of bod and cod of a refinery wastewater using multilayer artificial neural networks

TL;DR: In this paper, 12 ANN based models were proposed to predict the BOD5 and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) concentrations of wastewater generated from the effluent treatment plant of a petrochemical industry.

Maximum likelihood parameter estimation for fitting bedload rating curves
TL;DR: In this article, the maximum likelihood approach is shown to fit synthetic data better than linear or nonlinear least squares, and to perform well with data that include zero-transport samples.
