TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.
Abstract
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.

Assessing the impact of climate change on brown trout ( Salmo trutta fario ) recruitment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a multiple model approach to assess how predicted discharge changes affect bedload transport and the vulnerable early life stages of brown trout (Salmo trutta fario) in a prealpine catchment in Switzerland.

Transport of moderately sorted gravel at low bed shear stresses: The role of fine sediment infiltration

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report original laboratory experiments investigating the transport of gravel particles at low bed shear stresses, with detailed monitoring of the bed topography using a laser scanner.

Sediment transport and deposition during extreme sea storm events at the Salerno Bay (Tyrrhenian Sea): comparison of field data with numerical model results

TL;DR: In this article, a model of extreme sea-storms with a return period of about 0.1 ky is proposed based on historical hindcast and aims at explaining the occurrence of such unusual deep and thick sand deposits in the northern sector of the bay.

Modelling of sedimentation processes inside Roseires Reservoir (Sudan) (abstract)

Abstract: Roseires Reservoir is located on the Blue Nile River, in Sudan (figure 1). It is the first trap to the sediments coming from the upper catchment in Ethiopia, which suffers from high erosion and desertification problems. The reservoir lost already more than one third of its storage capacity due to sedimentation in the last four decades. This is a big economical loss to Sudan, in addition to the high maintenance costs of sediment clearance in front of the turbines to facilitate hydropower production.

Numerical modeling of subaqueous sand dune morphodynamics

TL;DR: In this article, the morphodynamic evolution of subaqueous sand dunes is investigated using a 2D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes numerical model, and the results show good agreement in terms of dune geometrical dimensions and time to equilibrium.
