TLDR
In this article, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data and the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich.Abstract:
In the following paper, a brief summary is first of all given of the results and interpretation of tests already made known in former publications of the Laboratory for Hydraulic Research and Soil Mechanics at the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. After that, an attempt is made to derive an empirical law of bed-load transport based on recent experimental data. We desire to state expressly that by bed-load transport is meant the movement of the solid material rolling or jumping along the bed of a river; transport of matter in suspension is not included.read more

Role of discharge variability on pseudomeandering channel morphodynamics: Results from laboratory experiments
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the role of discharge variability on river morphological processes, including the inception of the pseudomeandering pattern, the bar dynamics, and the bend erosion.

A physical, movable-bed model for non-uniform sediment transport, fluvial erosion and bank failure in rivers
Kamal El Kadi Abderrezzak,Andres Die Moran,Erik Mosselman,Jean-Pierre Bouchard,Helmut Habersack,Denis Aelbrecht +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, scale effects of a specific scaling approach for multi-grain size mixtures that preserves similarity of initial motion for each grain size class and of the bank stability coefficient between the model and the prototype, but relaxes strict similarity of the Shields and particle Reynolds numbers are discussed.

The Impact of Urbanization on Temporal Changes in Sediment Transport in a Gravel-Bed Channel in Southern Ontario, Canada
TL;DR: In this article, a field investigation has been undertaken to characterize the event-based bed load transport dynamics of a highly urbanized gravel bed stream, where a combination of direct bed load and tracer particle measurements were taken over a 3 year period during which time approximately 30 sediment mobilizing events occurred.

Non-uniformity and layering in sediment transport modelling 2: river application
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors verify a numerical sediment transport model based on field data from a reach of the Austrian Danube River, to identify the influence of non-uniform bed-load transport modelling and the selected bed schematization on the simulation results and investigate the cause and the numerical reproducibility of spatio-temporal variations found in field data.

Equivalent Roughness Height for Plane Bed Under Oscillatory Flow
TL;DR: In this article, a new relationship between the roughness height and the main hydrodynamic and sediment parameters for plane beds under oscillatory conditions is presented, and a new empirical equation developed in this study provides the highest predictive skill for all conditions investigated.
