The hierarchical control derived from ISA-95 and electrical dispatching standards to endow smartness and flexibility to MGs is presented and results are provided to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.Abstract:
DC and AC Microgrids are key elements to integrate renewable and distributed energy resources as well as distributed energy storage systems. In the last years, efforts toward the standardization of these Microgrids have been made. In this sense, this paper present the hierarchical control derived from ISA-95 and electrical dispatching standards to endow smartness and flexibility to microgrids. The hierarchical control proposed consist of three levels: i) the primary control is based on the droop method, including an output impedance virtual loop; ii) the secondary control allows restoring the deviations produced by the primary control; and iii) the tertiary control manage the power flow between the microgrid and the external electrical distribution system. Results from a hierarchical-controlled microgrid are provided to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.read more

Lyapunov Function-Based Current Controller to Control Active and Reactive Power Flow From a Renewable Energy Source to a Generalized Three-Phase Microgrid System
TL;DR: The proposed control system (implemented digitally) provides superior performance over the conventional multiple proportional-integral and proportional-resonant control methods due to the absence of the PARK's transformation blocks as well as phase lock loop requirement in the control structure.

Distributed Resilient Finite-Time Secondary Control for Heterogeneous Battery Energy Storage Systems Under Denial-of-Service Attacks
TL;DR: Under this framework, a distributed resilient finite-time secondary control scheme is proposed such that frequency regulation, active power sharing, and energy level balancing of BESSs can be achieved simultaneously in a finite time; meanwhile, operational constraints can be satisfied at any control transient time.

An Adaptive Event-Triggered Communication-Based Distributed Secondary Control for DC Microgrids
Subham Sahoo,Sukumar Mishra +1 more
TL;DR: This paper proposes an adaptive event-triggered communication-assisted distributed secondary cooperative control strategy using a parameter projection law-based estimate of states to reduce communication burden and achieve global average voltage regulation and proportionate load sharing in dc microgrids for various disturbances without sacrificing system performance.

Oscillator-Based Inverter Control for Islanded Three-Phase Microgrids
TL;DR: Time-domain switching-level simulation results for a 45-kW microgrid with 33% PV penetration demonstrate the merits of the proposed technique; in particular they show that the load voltage can be maintained between prescribed bounds in spite of variations in incident irradiance and step changes in the load.

Tertiary and Secondary Control Levels for Efficiency Optimization and System Damping in Droop Controlled DC–DC Converters
TL;DR: The results show that the system efficiency is improved by using tertiary optimization control and the desired transient response is ensured with system damping secondary control.

Control of parallel connected inverters in stand-alone AC supply systems
TL;DR: In this article, a control scheme for parallel-connected inverters in a standalone AC supply system is presented, which uses feedback of only those variables that can be measured locally at the inverter and does not need communication of control signals between the inverters.
