Localization of optics: Quasiperiodic media.
TLDR
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence, which has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.Abstract:
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence. The transmission coefficient has a rich structure as a function of the wavelength of light and, in fact, is multifractal. For particular wavelengths for which the resonance condition is satisfied, the light propagation has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.read more

Nanosized quarter-wave retarder based on fractal anisotropic multilayer structures
TL;DR: In this article, a fractal Cantor-like multilayer structure with one constituent material exhibiting optical birefringence is numerically shown to function as a quarter wave retarder.

Multiple wave scattering by quasiperiodic structures
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of structural aperiodicity on the propagation of the waves in quasiperiodic media have been investigated and recursive formulae are derived that can be used to calculate rapidly the propagation through one-and two-dimensional arrays with a one-dimensional Fibonacci chain distribution.
32-channel optical interleaver/deinterlea- ver using fibonacci quasi-periodic struc- tures
TL;DR: In this paper, the design of interleaver/deinterleavers using Fibonacci-class quasistructures is proposed, where odd and even channels are interleaved/de-interleaved with dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) multichannel fllter based on fibonacci quasi-periodic structures.

Optical Properties of Quasiperiodic Structures: Linear and Nonlinear Analysis
M. Bertolotti,C. Sibilia +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the transmission properties of self-similar optical multilayer structures are discussed in both the c.w. and the pulsed time domain, when the input light intensity is low enough for any nonlinear effect to be neglected.
