Localization of optics: Quasiperiodic media.
TLDR
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence, which has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.Abstract:
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence. The transmission coefficient has a rich structure as a function of the wavelength of light and, in fact, is multifractal. For particular wavelengths for which the resonance condition is satisfied, the light propagation has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.read more

Comparison of the transmission properties of self-similar, periodic, and random multilayers at normal incidence
TL;DR: It was found that stack self-similarity influences the acoustic transmission properties of the Fibonacci structure, which is similar to that of an averaged transmission coefficient of random stacks.

Design of omnidirectional high reflectors for optical telecommunication bands using the deformed quasiperiodic one-dimensional photonic crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, a broad omnidirectional reflection band covering the all telecommunication bands is obtained by applying a power law, so that the coordinates y of the deformed object were determined through the coordinates x of the non deformed structure in accordance with the following rule y = x/sup 1+k/.

The Golden Mean and self-similar structures in optics
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that if self-similarity is present in structures of Fibonacci gratings and multilayer systems, it appears in their optical characteristics.

Nature of the enhanced resonant modes in one-dimensional photonic random dimer systems
TL;DR: In this article, the propagation of light in a one-dimensional multilayer stack is examined for a disordered system with short range correlation, and the authors demonstrate the existence of a new ballistic-like regime at an additional standing commuting resonance.
