TLDR
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence, which has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.
Abstract
An experiment to probe the (quasi)localization of the photon is proposed, in which optical layers are constructed following the Fibonacci sequence. The transmission coefficient has a rich structure as a function of the wavelength of light and, in fact, is multifractal. For particular wavelengths for which the resonance condition is satisfied, the light propagation has scaling with respect to the number of layers, as well as an interesting fluctuation.

Photonic-Plasmonic Scattering Resonances in Deterministic Aperiodic Structures

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that deterministic aperiodic Au nanoparticle arrays give rise to broad plasmonic resonances spanning the entire visible spectrum, and it is shown that far-field diffractive coupling is responsible for the formation of characteristic photonic-plAsmonic scattering modes in a periodic arrays of metal nanoparticles.

Omnidirectional reflection from Fibonacci quasi-periodic one-dimensional photonic crystal

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that omnidirectional reflection is possible from quasi-periodic isotropic dielectric stacks following a Fibonacci sequence (FS).

Fractal energy spectrum of a polariton gas in a Fibonacci quasiperiodic potential.

TL;DR: Imaging the polariton modes both in real and reciprocal space, features characteristic of their fractal energy spectrum such as the opening of minigaps obeying the gap labeling theorem and log-periodic oscillations of the integrated density of states are observed.

Optical properties of periodic, quasi-periodic, and disordered one-dimensional photonic structures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce the concepts of periodicity, quasi-periodicity, and disorder in photonic crystals, focussing on the one-dimensional case, and report different types of disorder in 1D photonic structures and discuss their properties in terms of light transmission.

Photon band gap properties and omnidirectional reflectance in Si∕SiO2 Thue–Morse quasicrystals

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explain the physical origin of the TÕSiO2 Thue-Morse omnidirectional band gap as a result of periodic spatial correlations in the complex TÔM structure.
