Service-Learning Is ... How Faculty Explain Their Practice
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed 109 exemplary faculty nominated for the Thomas Ehrlich Award and found that faculty use four dominant discourses regarding the purposes and significance of service-learning: a model of teaching and learning, an expression of personal identity, institutional context and mission, or embedded in a specific community partnership.
