TLDR
In this article, 15 chondrites, including eight carbonaceous chondites, were analyzed for rare earth element abundances by isotope dilution, and the persistence of anomalies in chondritic materials relatively removed from direct condensational processes implies that anomalous components were introduced at a late stage of chondrite formation.

Chemical differentiation of the Earth: the relationship between mantle, continental crust, and oceanic crust

TL;DR: In this paper, the average chemical compositions of the continental crust and the oceanic crust (represented by MORB), normalized to primitive mantle values and plotted as functions of the apparent bulk partition coefficient of each element, form surprisingly simple, complementary concentration patterns.

Sm-Nd isotopic evolution of chondrites

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that none of the analyzed meteorite samples deviated more than 0.5 e-units from a 4.6-AE reference isochron and defined an initial 4.5-AE value for CHUR using the Juvinas data of Lugmair.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar-system abundances of the elements

TL;DR: In this paper, the Ogueil Cl meteorite and all previous Cl chondrite analyses were employed to develop a new solar system abundance table, including the standard deviation and number of analyses for each element.

Fine structures of mutually normalized rare-earth patterns of chondrites

TL;DR: In this paper, the relative and absolute abundances of chondrites were determined by mass-spectrometric stable isotope dilution techniques and a comparison was made with the results on the chondrite composites previously investigated.

Relative and Absolute Terrestrial Abundances of the Rare Earths

TL;DR: In this article, the relative rare-earth abundances in composite samples of shales, metamorphosed shales and chondritic meteorites are reported, showing that common crustal rocks are deficient in Eu, relative to the other rare earths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Partition coefficients of rare-earth elements between igneous matrix material and rock-forming mineral phenocrysts—II

TL;DR: In this paper, solid-liquid partition coefficients between phenocrysts and the host lavas have been measured for rare-earth elements by an isotope dilution technique and the consistency of much of the data suggests that most of the phenocryst crystallized under equilibrium, or quasi-equilibrium, conditions.

Inferences about magma sources and mantle structure from variations of ^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd

TL;DR: In this article, a priori distinction between "continental" and "oceanic" igneous rocks was made between flood basalts and mid-ocean ridge (MOR) tholeiitic basalts.
