Abstract
An efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach which approximately conserves the measurements. Computational efforts are reduced by parametrizing the current profile linearly in terms of a number of physical parameters. Results of detailed comparative calculations and a sensitivity study are described. Illustrative calculations to reconstruct the current profiles and plasma shapes in ohmically and auxiliarily heated Doublet III plasmas are given which show many interesting features of the current profiles.

Advanced techniques for neoclassical tearing mode control in DIII-D

TL;DR: In this article, two techniques were developed at DIII-D to tackle ITER-specific aspects of neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) control, namely, the relatively small size of the rotating islands, smaller than the electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) deposition region, and the increased tendency of the islands, compared to present devices, to lock to the wall or to the residual error field, in a position not necessarily accessible to ECCD.

Turbulent inward pinch of plasma confined by a levitated dipole magnet

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that turbulent fluctuations can actually increase the density of a plasma by driving diffusion against a density gradient, and they used a superconducting magnet to generate the confining field.

Collective fast ion instability-induced losses in National Spherical Tokamak Experiment

TL;DR: A wide variety of fast ion driven instabilities are excited during neutral beam injection (NBI) in the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) [Nucl. Fusion 39, 2137 (1999)] and NSTX is comparable as discussed by the authors.

V3FIT: a code for three-dimensional equilibrium reconstruction

TL;DR: The V3FIT as discussed by the authors is a modular code that has the potential to be coupled with a variety of equilibrium solvers to compute the externally measured response to an arbitrary internal state of the plasma.
