Abstract
An efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach which approximately conserves the measurements. Computational efforts are reduced by parametrizing the current profile linearly in terms of a number of physical parameters. Results of detailed comparative calculations and a sensitivity study are described. Illustrative calculations to reconstruct the current profiles and plasma shapes in ohmically and auxiliarily heated Doublet III plasmas are given which show many interesting features of the current profiles.

Suppression of vertical instability in elongated current-carrying plasmas by applying stellarator rotational transforma)

TL;DR: In this paper, the passive stability of vertically elongated current-carrying toroidal plasmas has been investigated in the Compact Toroidal Hybrid, a stellarator/tokamak hybrid device.

An analysis of controlled detachment by seeding various impurity species in high performance scenarios on DIII-D and EAST

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare the performance of nitrogen seeding and feedback control with a single Langmuir probe and show that the latter is the most straightforward sensor to use for accessing detachment onset, while the latter offers more precise control of degree of detachment.

'Beam-emission spectroscopy' diagnostics also measure edge fast-ion light

TL;DR: In this article, the authors detect passive fast ion Dα (FIDA) light from fast ions that charge exchange in the high neutral density region at the edge of the plasma make appreciable contributions to the beam emission spectroscopy (BES) signals.

Observation of the intrinsic rotation in KSTAR Ohmic L-mode plasmas

TL;DR: In this article, two types of experiments were carried out to conduct an intrinsic rotation study in KSTAR Ohmic L-mode plasmas, and the first was a density ramp-up experiment without neutral beam injection and the second was an experiment with beam blip technique.

Scaling of plasma parameters in the SOL and divertor for Alcator C-Mod

TL;DR: In this article, a fast scanning Langmuir probe and an array of divertor-Langmuir probes are used to characterize the cross-field heat transport ( χ ⊥ ) and to compare plasma conditions upstream along a magnetic flux tube to conditions at the divertor.
