Abstract
An efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach which approximately conserves the measurements. Computational efforts are reduced by parametrizing the current profile linearly in terms of a number of physical parameters. Results of detailed comparative calculations and a sensitivity study are described. Illustrative calculations to reconstruct the current profiles and plasma shapes in ohmically and auxiliarily heated Doublet III plasmas are given which show many interesting features of the current profiles.

Initial measurements of the DIII-D off-axis neutral beams

TL;DR: In this article, two neutral-beam sources on the DIII-D tokamak were modified to allow injection below the midplane to validate off-axis beam performance, the various beams are injected sequentially into low-power plasmas that are optimized for accurate neutron, neutral-particle, fast-ion D-alpha and fast ion pressure measurements.

Quiescence near the X-point of MAST measured by high speed visible imaging

TL;DR: In this paper, the quiescent X-point region (QXR) was found to be ubiquitous across a significant operational space in MAST including L-mode and H-mode discharges across maximal ranges of 9. 8 × 10 19 m − 2 in line integrated density, 0. 36MA in plasma current, 0. 11T in toroidal magnetic field and 3. 2MW in NBI power.
