In this paper, an efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach.Abstract:
An efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach which approximately conserves the measurements. Computational efforts are reduced by parametrizing the current profile linearly in terms of a number of physical parameters. Results of detailed comparative calculations and a sensitivity study are described. Illustrative calculations to reconstruct the current profiles and plasma shapes in ohmically and auxiliarily heated Doublet III plasmas are given which show many interesting features of the current profiles.read more

Equilibrium reconstruction of plasma profiles based on soft x-ray imaging in DIII-D
TL;DR: In this article, the shape of the safety-factor q profile in DIII-D can be generally determined from the information inferred from surfaces of constant SXR emissivity, and the choice of an appropriate number of fitting parameters to reconstruct the q profile is also investigated.

Two-fluid equilibrium with flow: FLOW2

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of finite macroscopic velocities on axisymmetric ideal equilibria are examined using the two-fluid (ions and electrons) model and a new equilibrium solver, FLOW2, is introduced for the twofluid model and used to investigate the importance of various flow patterns on the equilibrium of tight aspect ratio (NSTX) and regular tokamak (DIII-D) configurations.
