Abstract
An efficient method is given to reconstruct the current profile parameters, the plasma shape, and a current profile consistent with the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium constraint from external magnetic measurements, based on a Picard iteration approach which approximately conserves the measurements. Computational efforts are reduced by parametrizing the current profile linearly in terms of a number of physical parameters. Results of detailed comparative calculations and a sensitivity study are described. Illustrative calculations to reconstruct the current profiles and plasma shapes in ohmically and auxiliarily heated Doublet III plasmas are given which show many interesting features of the current profiles.

Spheromak Experiment Using Separate Guns For Formation And Sustainment

TL;DR: In this article, the use of separate magnetized plasma guns for the formation and sustainment of a spheromak is described, and it is shown that energy coupling efficiency approaches unity if the guns and spheroms are of comparable size.

Plasma current profile reconstruction for EAST based on Bayesian inference

TL;DR: A novel reconstruction code based on Bayesian inference is developed to infer the plasma current distribution for experiment analysis of EAST, and its potential for application in future real-time plasma feedback control is indicated.

Pedestal fueling simulations with a coupled kinetic plasma–kinetic neutral transport code

TL;DR: In this paper, the Monte Carlo neutral transport code DEGAS2 was proposed to provide a more realistic treatment of neutral atoms in the tokamak edge plasma and allow detailed atomic physics and plasma-material interaction processes to be incorporated into the simulations.
