Modelling annuity portfolios and longevity risk with extended creditrisk
TL;DR: In this article, an extended version of the credit risk model CreditRisk + is used to estimate stochastic life tables and to model credit, life insurance and annuity portfolios, including actuarial reserves.

Beyond a single patch: local and regional processes explain diversity patterns in a seagrass epifaunal metacommunity
Keila A Stark,Patrick L. Thompson,Jennifer Yakimishyn,Lynn C. Lee,Emily M. Adamczyk,Margot Hessing-Lewis,Mary I. O'Connor +6 more
TL;DR: In 17 temperate seagrass meadows along the British Columbia coast, the hypothesis that eelgrass (Zostera marina L.) epifaunal invertebrate assemblages are influenced by local environmental conditions, but that high dispersal rates at larger spatial scales dampen effects of environmental differences is tested.
Journal ArticleDOI
A variationally stable compact Hartree–Fock-style wavefunction for a non-degenerate first excited state
TL;DR: In this paper, a wave function for a non-degenerate first excited state constructed as a Slater determinant from which the ground state Hartree-Fock wave function has been projected out explicitly is introduced, together with all expressions required for its calculation through gradient-based energy optimization schemes.

Greening Development Planning
Olof Drakenberg,Sandra Silva Paulsen,Jessica Andersson,Emelie Dahlberg,Kristoffer Darin Mattsson,Elisabeth Wikstrom +5 more
TL;DR: Different approaches to making the economic case for improved management of natural capital in national planning are reviewed in this paper, which concludes that the analysed country studies (Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mozambique, Peru, Tajikistan and Uganda) mainly relied on existing domestic or international analytical work, used relatively basic calculations/data (such as the market value of fisheries, the value of timber sold etc.) and often formed part of a broader analytical effort.
Journal ArticleDOI
A theoretical study of ZnH2: a case of very strong Darling–Dennison resonance
TL;DR: In this paper, the metastable linear ZnH2 molecule in its X electronic ground state has been investigated by the coupled cluster method CCSD(T) in conjunction with a small core pseudopotential for the zinc atom.

Impact Evaluation of a Conditional Cash Transfer Program: The Nicaraguan Red de Proteccion Social
John A. Maluccio,Rafael Flores +1 more
TL;DR: The impact evaluation of a conditional cash transfer program was performed by the Nicaraguan Red de Proteccion Social (RPS) as discussed by the authors, which evaluated the effectiveness of the program.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Case for Randomized Field Trials in Economic and Policy Research
TL;DR: The advantages and disadvantages of experiments in comparison with other research techniques are examined and the circumstances where randomized trials should be preferred over other methods are described.

An evaluation of the impact of progresa on pre-school child height
Jere R. Behrman,John Hoddinott +1 more
TL;DR: One of the major components of the PROGRESA program has been directed toward improving the nutritional status of small children in poor rural communities in Mexico as mentioned in this paper, which has been shown to have a substantial effect on lifetime productivities and earnings of currently small children.
Posted ContentDOI
Progressing through progresa: an impact assessment of a school subsidy experiment
TL;DR: The authors used a Markov schooling transition model applied to the experimental data to assess the impact of the educational subsidy program along several dimensions, including effects on initial ages of school entry, dropout rates, grade repetition rates, and school reentry rates.

A New Approach to Social Assistance: Latin America’s Experience with Conditional Cash Transfer Programs
TL;DR: Conditional cash transfer as discussed by the authors is a departure from more traditional approaches to social assistance, that represents an innovative, and increasingly popular channel for the delivery of social services that represents a demand-side complement to the supply of health, and education services.
