Theory and modeling of relevance to prompt-NO formation at high pressure

TL;DR: In this article, a combination of theoretical and modeling studies are implemented in an effort to improve the accuracy of models for the prompt NO process, which is the dominant source of NO under many conditions, and to improve our understanding of the role of this process at high pressures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Age at Arrival and Life Chances Among Childhood Immigrants

TL;DR: The findings indicate that childhood immigration after an early-life formative period tends to constrain later human capital formation and economic opportunities over the life course.
Journal ArticleDOI

Miocene evolution of the western edge of the Nevadaplano in the central and northern Sierra Nevada: palaeocanyons, magmatism, and structure

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that neither end-member model is correct for the debate regarding youth vs. antiquity of the Sierra Nevada, and the most unambiguous constraints on the Sierran landscape evolution are derived from field studies of dated strata preserved in the palaeochannels/palaeocanyons that crossed the range in Cenozoic time.
Journal ArticleDOI

A companion to biological anthropology

TL;DR: This book is a very useful, complete compendium of contemporary anthropology recognised as “holistic approach to understanding the human condition, both from cultural and from biological perspectives”.
Journal ArticleDOI

Palynology and petroleum potential of the Kazhdumi Formation (Cretaceous: Albian―Cenomanian) in the South Pars field, northern Persian Gulf

TL;DR: In this paper, an age between late Albian and Cenomanian was established for the Kazhdumi Formation based on dinoflagellate cyst biostratigraphy, and four palynofacies types were recognized using the relative proportions of terrestrial elements, marine palynomorphs and amorphous organic matter (AOM).

Journal ArticleDOI

The Case for Randomized Field Trials in Economic and Policy Research

TL;DR: The advantages and disadvantages of experiments in comparison with other research techniques are examined and the circumstances where randomized trials should be preferred over other methods are described.

An evaluation of the impact of progresa on pre-school child height

TL;DR: One of the major components of the PROGRESA program has been directed toward improving the nutritional status of small children in poor rural communities in Mexico as mentioned in this paper, which has been shown to have a substantial effect on lifetime productivities and earnings of currently small children.
Posted ContentDOI

Progressing through progresa: an impact assessment of a school subsidy experiment

TL;DR: The authors used a Markov schooling transition model applied to the experimental data to assess the impact of the educational subsidy program along several dimensions, including effects on initial ages of school entry, dropout rates, grade repetition rates, and school reentry rates.
