New aspects on factors determining the sensitivity of the formaldehyde and glyoxylic acid fluorescence histochemical methods for monoamines

TL;DR: If the histochemical models are dissolved in buffer after the reaction and new models are made from this solution, the fluorescence intensity of the fluorophores formed in the reaction is drastically reduced and becomes comparable to that of the synthetic ones.
Book ChapterDOI

Use of CNS Implants to Promote Regeneration of Central Axons across Denervating Lesions in the Adult Rat Brain

TL;DR: Tello, Tello, 7 and Ramon y Cajal8 were the first to attempt to promote regeneration of lesioned central axons by using implants of peripheral nerve.

Parental Separation and Children's Educational Attainment: A Siblings Approach

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed whether the commonly found negative relationship between parental separation in childhood and educational outcomes is causal or mainly due to selection, using data on 100,000 Swedish full biological siblings, born in 1951-64, and perform cross-section and sibling-difference estimations.
Book ChapterDOI

Acetylcholine release from intrahippocampal septal grafts is under control by the host brain: a microdialysis study.

TL;DR: The dependency of acetylcholine release on axonal impulse flow and behavioral activation is discussed and the intracerebral microdialysis technique is used to measure the extracellular levels of transmitter and study the effects of different manipulations.
