TL;DR: The Critical Assessment of Metagenome Interpretation (CAMI) challenge has engaged the global developer community to benchmark their programs on highly complex and realistic data sets, generated from ∼700 newly sequenced microorganisms and ∼600 novel viruses and plasmids and representing common experimental setups as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two genomes of highly polyphagous lepidopteran pests (Spodoptera frugiperda, Noctuidae) with different host-plant ranges
Anaïs Gouin,Anthony Bretaudeau,Anthony Bretaudeau,Kiwoong Nam,Sylvie Gimenez,Jean-Marc Aury,Bernard Duvic,Frédérique Hilliou,Nicolas Durand,Nicolas Montagné,Isabelle Darboux,Suyog S. Kuwar,Thomas Chertemps,David Siaussat,Anne Bretschneider,Yves Moné,Seung-Joon Ahn,Sabine Hänniger,Anne Sophie Gosselin Grenet,David Neunemann,Florian Maumus,Isabelle Luyten,Karine Labadie,Wei Xu,Fotini Koutroumpa,Jean Michel Escoubas,Angel Llopis,Martine Maïbèche-Coisne,Fanny Salasc,Fanny Salasc,Archana Tomar,Alisha Anderson,Sher Afzal Khan,Pascaline Dumas,Marion Orsucci,Julie Guy,Caroline Belser,Adriana Alberti,Benjamin Noel,Arnaud Couloux,Jonathan Mercier,Sabine Nidelet,Emeric Dubois,Nai-Yong Liu,Isabelle Boulogne,Olivier Mirabeau,Gaëlle Le Goff,Karl H.J. Kergoat,Joelle Amselem,Hadi Quesneville,Astrid T. Groot,Astrid T. Groot,Emmanuelle Jacquin-Joly,Nicolas Nègre,Claire Lemaitre,Fabrice Legeai,Emmanuelle d'Alençon,Philippe Fournier +68 more
TL;DR: Signs of positive selection in genes involved in chemoreception, detoxification and digestion, and copy number variation in the two latter gene families are found, suggesting an adaptive role for structural variation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) host-plant variants: two host strains or two distinct species?
Pascaline Dumas,Pascaline Dumas,Fabrice Legeai,Claire Lemaitre,Erwan Scaon,Marion Orsucci,Marion Orsucci,Karine Labadie,Sylvie Gimenez,Anne-Laure Clamens,Hélène Henri,Fabrice Vavre,Jean-Marc Aury,Philippe Fournier,Gael J. Kergoat,Emmanuelle d'Alençon +15 more
TL;DR: A significant reduction of mating success in F1 in one direction of the cross and a high level of microsatellite markers showing transmission ratio distortion in the F2 progeny support the existence of post-zygotic reproductive isolation between the two laboratory strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reference-free compression of high throughput sequencing data with a probabilistic de Bruijn graph.
Gaëtan Benoit,Claire Lemaitre,Dominique Lavenier,Erwan Drezen,Thibault Dayris,Raluca Uricaru,Guillaume Rizk +6 more
TL;DR: A novel reference-free method meant to compress data issued from high throughput sequencing technologies, based on a reference probabilistic de Bruijn Graph, which allows to obtain higher compression rates without losing pertinent information for downstream analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Footprints of Inversions at Present and Past Pseudoautosomal Boundaries in Human Sex Chromosomes
Claire Lemaitre,Marília D. V. Braga,Christian Gautier,Marie-France Sagot,Eric Tannier,Gabriel A. B. Marais +5 more
TL;DR: The results strongly support the view that the most recent human strata have arisen by Y inversions and suggest that inversions have played a major role in the differentiation of the authors' sex chromosomes.
