Wafer-Scale Synthesis of Graphene on Sapphire: Toward Fab-Compatible Graphene
Neeraj Mishra,Stiven Forti,Filippo Fabbri,Leonardo Martini,Clifford McAleese,Ben R. Conran,Patrick Rebsdorf Whelan,Abhay Shivayogimath,Bjarke Sørensen Jessen,Lars Buß,Jens Falta,I. Aliaj,Stefano Roddaro,Stefano Roddaro,J. I. Flege,J. I. Flege,Peter Bøggild,Kenneth B. K. Teo,Camilla Coletti +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a metal-free approach implemented in commercially available reactors to obtain high-quality monolayer graphene on c-plane sapphire substrates via chemical vapor deposition is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light-matter coupling in large-area van der Waals superlattices.
P. Ashok Kumar,Jason Lynch,Baokun Song,Haonan Ling,Francisco Barrera,Kim Kisslinger,Huiqin Zhang,Surendra B. Anantharaman,Jagrit Digani,Haoyue Zhu,Tanushree H. Choudhury,Clifford McAleese,Xiaochen Wang,Ben R. Conran,Oliver Whear,Michael J. Motala,Michael Snure,Christopher Muratore,Joan M. Redwing,Nicholas R. Glavin,Eric A. Stach,Arthur R. Davoyan,Deep Jariwala +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a superlattice structure consisting of alternating layers of 2D excitonic chalcogenides and dielectric insulators is proposed for optical dispersion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Going beyond copper: wafer-scale synthesis of graphene on sapphire
Neeraj Mishra,Stiven Forti,Filippo Fabbri,Leonardo Martini,Clifford McAleese,Ben R. Conran,Patrick Rebsdorf Whelan,Abhay Shivayogimath,Lars Buß,Jens Falta,I. Aliaj,Stefano Roddaro,J. I. Flege,Peter Bøggild,K. B. K. Teo,Camilla Coletti +15 more
TL;DR: The growth process introduced here establishes a method for the synthesis of wafer-scale graphene films on a technologically viable basis and identifies the Al-rich reconstruction 31 × 31 R ± 9 ° of sapphire to be crucial for obtaining epitaxial graphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substrate-Induced Variances in Morphological and Structural Properties of MoS2 Grown by Chemical Vapor Deposition on Epitaxial Graphene and SiO2.
Jakub Sitek,Janusz Płocharski,Iwona Pasternak,Arkadiusz P. Gertych,Clifford McAleese,Ben R. Conran,Mariusz Zdrojek,Wlodek Strupinski +7 more
TL;DR: By the application of graphene as a growth substrate, this work realizes van der Waals epitaxy and achieve strain-free growth, as suggested by the photoluminescence (PL) studies, and indicates that PL, contrary to Raman spectroscopy, enables us to arbitrarily determine the strain levels in MoS2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Case studies of electrical characterisation of graphene by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
Patrick Rebsdorf Whelan,Binbin Zhou,Odile Bezencenet,Abhay Shivayogimath,Neeraj Mishra,Qian Shen,Qian Shen,Qian Shen,Bjarke Sørensen Jessen,Iwona Pasternak,David M. A. Mackenzie,Jie Ji,Cunzhi Sun,Pierre Seneor,Bruno Dlubak,Birong Luo,Frederik Westergaard Østerberg,Deping Huang,Haofei Shi,Da Luo,Meihui Wang,Rodney S. Ruoff,Ben R. Conran,Clifford McAleese,Cedric Huyghebaert,Steven Brems,Timothy J. Booth,Ilargi Napal,Wlodek Strupinski,Dirch Hjorth Petersen,Stiven Forti,Camilla Coletti,Alexandre Jouvray,Kenneth B. K. Teo,Alba Centeno,Amaia Zurutuza,Pierre Legagneux,Peter Uhd Jepsen,Peter Bøggild +38 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show several case studies of graphene characterization on a range of different substrates that highlight the versatility of THz-TDS measurements and its relevance for process optimization in graphene production scenarios.
