TL;DR: The asteroid impact near the Russian city of Chelyabinsk on 15 February 2013 was the largest airburst on Earth since the 1908 Tunguska event, causing a natural disaster in an area with a population exceeding one million.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three-Dimensional Structure of Hayabusa Samples: Origin and Evolution of Itokawa Regolith
Akira Tsuchiyama,Masayuki Uesugi,Takashi Matsushima,Tatsuhiro Michikami,Toshihiko Kadono,Tomoki Nakamura,Kentaro Uesugi,Tsukasa Nakano,Scott A. Zolensky,Toshifumi Mukai,Masanao Abe,Toru Yada,Akio Fujimura,Makoto Yoshikawa,Jun'ichiro Kawaguchi +32 more
TL;DR: Regolith particles on the asteroid Itokawa were recovered by the Hayabusa mission and their three-dimensional structure and other properties, revealed by x-ray microtomography, provide information on regolith formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 3He/4He ratio of the new internal He Standard of Japan (HESJ).
Jun-ichi Matsuda,Takuya Matsumoto,Hirochika Sumino,Keisuke Nagao,Junji Yamamoto,Yayoi N. Miura,Ichiro Kaneoka,Naoto Takahata,Yuji Sano +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, an artificial mixture of 3He and 4He was used as an internal standard for precise 3He/4He measurements of terrestrial mantle-derived samples, named HESJ (He Standard of Japan).
Journal ArticleDOI
Radar-Enabled Recovery of the Sutter’s Mill Meteorite, a Carbonaceous Chondrite Regolith Breccia

TL;DR: A comprehensive analysis of some of these fragments shows that the Sutter's Mill meteorite represents a new type of carbonaceous chondrite, a rare and primitive class of meteorites that contain clues to the origin and evolution of primitive materials in the solar system.
