Journal ArticleDOI
NPR1 Modulates Cross-Talk between Salicylate- and Jasmonate-Dependent Defense Pathways through a Novel Function in the Cytosol
Steven H. Spoel,Steven H. Spoel,Annemart Koornneef,Susanne M. C. Claessens,Jerome Korzelius,Johan A. Van Pelt,Martin J. Mueller,Antony Buchala,Jean-Pierre Métraux,Rebecca L. Brown,Kemal Kazan,L.C. van Loon,Xinnian Dong,Corné M. J. Pieterse +13 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the Arabidopsis mutant npr1 revealed that the antagonistic effect of SA on JA signaling requires the regulatory protein NPR1, indicating that cross-talk between SA and JA is modulated through a novel function of NPR1 in the cytosol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping and phasing of structural variation in patient genomes using nanopore sequencing
Mircea Cretu Stancu,Markus J. van Roosmalen,Ivo Renkens,Marleen M. Nieboer,Sjors Middelkamp,Joep de Ligt,Giulia Pregno,Daniela Giachino,Giorgia Mandrile,Jose Espejo Valle-Inclan,Jerome Korzelius,Ewart de Bruijn,Edwin Cuppen,Michael E. Talkowski,Michael E. Talkowski,Tobias Marschall,Tobias Marschall,Jeroen de Ridder,Wigard P. Kloosterman +18 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that nanopore long reads are superior to short reads with regard to detection of de novo chromothripsis rearrangements, and the value of long-read sequencing in mapping and phasing of SVs for both clinical and research applications is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: It is proposed that sequence-level resolution dramatically improves prediction of clinical outcomes for balanced rearrangements and provides insight into new pathogenic mechanisms, such as altered regulation due to changes in chromosome topology.

Fly-FUCCI: A Versatile Tool for Studying Cell Proliferation in Complex Tissues
Norman Zielke,Jerome Korzelius,Monique van Straaten,Katharina Bender,Gregor F.P. Schuhknecht,Devanjali Dutta,Jinyi Xiang,Bruce A. Edgar +7 more
TL;DR: The development of a Drosophila-specific FUCCI system (Fly-FUCCI) that allows one to distinguish G1, S, and G2 phases of interphase and should be a valuable tool for visualizing cell-cycle activity during development, tissue homeostasis, and neoplastic growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Herbivore-induced resistance against microbial pathogens in Arabidopsis
Martin De Vos,Wendy Van Zaanen,Annemart Koornneef,Jerome Korzelius,Marcel Dicke,L.C. van Loon,Corné M. J. Pieterse +6 more
TL;DR: Pharmacological experiments showed that ET acts synergistically on SA-induced PR-1, suggesting that the increased production of ET upon herbivore feeding sensitizes the tissue to respond faster to SA, thereby contributing to an enhanced defensive capacity toward pathogens, such as TCV, that trigger SA-dependent defenses upon infection.
