Homodimericin A: A Complex Hexacyclic Fungal Metabolite
Emily Mevers,Josep Saurí,Yizhou Liu,Arvin Moser,Timothy R. Ramadhar,Maria Varlan,R. Thomas Williamson,Gary E. Martin,Jon Clardy +8 more
TL;DR: A plausible nonenzymatic reaction cascade leading from two identical achiral monomers to homodimericin A’s formation by this path, a six-electron oxidation, could be a response to oxidative stress triggered by bafilomycin C1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bombyx mori Pheromone-Binding Protein Binding Nonpheromone Ligands: Implications for Pheromone Recognition
TL;DR: The three-dimensional structures of the PBP of Bombyx mori, the silkworm moth, both with and without its cognate ligand bombykol ([E,Z]-10,12-hexadecadienol, have been determined by X-ray crystallography and NMR and suggest the protein might still act as a filter during pheromone signal processing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and Characterization of Small Molecule Inhibitors of a Class I Histone Deacetylase from Plasmodium falciparum
Vishal Patel,Ralph Mazitschek,Bradley I. Coleman,Cokey Nguyen,Sameer Urgaonkar,Joseph F. Cortese,Robert H. Barker,Edward Greenberg,Weiping Tang,James E. Bradner,Stuart L. Schreiber,Manoj T. Duraisingh,Dyann F. Wirth,Jon Clardy +13 more
TL;DR: A library of approximately 2000 small molecules biased toward inhibition of histone deacetylases was assayed for antimalarial activity in a high-throughput P. falciparum viability assay and on-target selectivity for pfHDAC-1 was verified.
