TL;DR: The GSMA produced significant genomewide evidence for linkage on chromosome 2q and suggests that some or all of these regions contain loci that increase susceptibility to schizophrenia in diverse populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
An international two-stage genome-wide search for schizophrenia susceptibility genes.
Hans W. Moises,Liu Yang,H. Kristbjarnarson,Claudia Wiese,William Byerley,Fabio Macciardi,Volker Arolt,Douglas Blackwood,X. Liu,Barbro Sjögren,Harald N. Aschauer,Hai-Gwo Hwu,K. Jang,W.J. Kidd,Tómas Helgason +27 more
TL;DR: The results of a two-stage genome-wide search for genes conferring susceptibility to schizophrenia were reported in this article. But none of these genes have been found to be associated with the HLA region on chromosome 6p.
Journal ArticleDOI
Additional support for schizophrenia linkage on chromosomes 6 and 8: A multicenter study

TL;DR: Results are interpreted as inconclusive but suggestive of linkage in the latter two regions, and it is concluded that multicenter follow-up linkage studies of complex disorders can help to direct research efforts toward promising regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antidepressants and public health in Iceland. Time series analysis of national data.
TL;DR: The dramatic increase in the sales of antidepressants has not had any marked impact on the selected public health measures and better treatment for depressive disorders is still needed in order to reduce the burden caused by them.
Journal ArticleDOI
No evidence of linkage between schizophrenia and D3 dopamine receptor gene locus in Icelandic pedigrees
Claudia Wiese,Lars Lannfelt,H. Kristbjarnarson,Liu Yang,Tómas Zoega,Pierre Sokoloff,Omar Ivarsson,Jean-Charles Schwartz,Hans W. Moises,Tómas Helgason +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the genetic predisposition to schizophrenia in these pedigrees is not due to a mutation in the DRD3 locus, and the possibility that a defect in other genes regulating the expression of the D3 dopamine receptor gene could be involved in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia is not excluded.
