An atlas of active enhancers across human cell types and tissues
Robin Andersson,Claudia Gebhard,Irene Miguel-Escalada,Ilka Hoof,Jette Bornholdt,Mette Boyd,Yun Chen,Xiaobei Zhao,Xiaobei Zhao,Christian Schmidl,Takahiro Suzuki,Evgenia Ntini,Erik Arner,Eivind Valen,Eivind Valen,Kang Li,Lucia Schwarzfischer,Dagmar Glatz,Johanna Raithel,Berit Lilje,Nicolas Rapin,Frederik Otzen Bagger,Mette Rose Jørgensen,Peter Refsing Andersen,Nicolas Bertin,Owen J. Hume,Torben Heick Jensen,Harukazu Suzuki,Yoshihide Hayashizaki,Ferenc Müller,Alistair R. R. Forrest,Piero Carninci,Michael Rehli,Albin Sandelin +51 more
TL;DR: It is shown that enhancers share properties with CpG-poor messenger RNA promoters but produce bidirectional, exosome-sensitive, relatively short unspliced RNAs, the generation of which is strongly related to enhancer activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
RNA Exosome Depletion Reveals Transcription Upstream of Active Human Promoters
Pascal Preker,Jesper Buus Nielsen,Susanne Kammler,Søren Lykke-Andersen,Marianne S. Christensen,Christophe K. Mapendano,Mikkel H. Schierup,Torben Heick Jensen +7 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that PROMPT transcription is a common characteristic of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcribed genes with a possible regulatory potential and is positively correlated with gene activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonsense-mediated mRNA decay: an intricate machinery that shapes transcriptomes.
TL;DR: How NMD targets m RNAs, the types of mRNAs that are targeted, and the roles of NMD in cellular stress, differentiation and maturation processes are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
A nucleoporin is required for induction of Ca2+ spiking in legume nodule development and essential for rhizobial and fungal symbiosis.
Norihito Kanamori,Lene H. Madsen,Simona Radutoiu,Mirela Frantescu,Esben M. Quistgaard,Hiroki Miwa,J. Allan Downie,Euan K. James,Hubert H. Felle,Line Lindegaard Haaning,Torben Heick Jensen,Shusei Sato,Yasukazu Nakamura,Satoshi Tabata,Niels Sandal,Jens Stougaard +15 more
TL;DR: The results identify a component of an intriguing signal process requiring interaction at the cell plasma membrane and at intracellular nuclear and plastid organelle-membranes to induce a second messenger.
Journal ArticleDOI
SMG6 promotes endonucleolytic cleavage of nonsense mRNA in human cells
TL;DR: It is reported that degradation of human nonsense mRNAs can be initiated by PTC-proximal endonucleolytic cleavage and suggested that endon nucleolytic Cleavage is a conserved feature in metazoan NMD.
