Journal ArticleDOI

An atlas of active enhancers across human cell types and tissues

TL;DR: It is shown that enhancers share properties with CpG-poor messenger RNA promoters but produce bidirectional, exosome-sensitive, relatively short unspliced RNAs, the generation of which is strongly related to enhancer activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nuclear stability and transcriptional directionality separate functionally distinct RNA species

TL;DR: A strategy to systematically categorize human RNAs by their sensitivity to the ribonucleolytic RNA exosome complex and by the nature of their transcription initiation is devised, which is surprisingly effective at correctly classifying annotated transcripts, including lncRNAs of known function.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidative DNA damage and defence gene expression in the mouse lung after short-term exposure to diesel exhaust particles by inhalation

TL;DR: It is indicated that a single high dose of DEP generates 8-oxodG in lung tissue, whereas the same dose inhaled as four low-exposures may up-regulate the antioxidative defence system and protect against generation of 8-OxodG.
Journal ArticleDOI

DNA adduct formation and oxidative stress in colon and liver of Big Blue rats after dietary exposure to diesel particles.

TL;DR: The data indicate that gastrointestinal exposure to DEP induces DNA adducts and oxidative stress resulting in DNA strand breaks, enhanced repair capacity of oxidative base damage, apoptosis and protein oxidation in colon mucosa cells and liver.
