TL;DR: The p-n junction photocatalyst exhibits enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity for decomposition of rhodamine B (RhB) and phenol.
Abstract: A novel p–n junction photocatalyst of Bi4Ti3O12 nanofibers–BiOI nanosheets has been fabricated through a simple and economical technique of electrospinning combined with a successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) process. The products are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The as-formed Bi4Ti3O12 nanofibers are composed of inter-linked nanoparticles of 50–80 nm in size. The thickness of the as-grown BiOI nanosheets is about 10 nm and the size of the BiOI nanosheets increases with the SILAR cycles. In particular, many {001} facets of BiOI nanosheets are exposed, which is favorable to enhance the visible-light photocatalytic activity. The p–n junction photocatalyst exhibits enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity for decomposition of rhodamine B (RhB) and phenol. The enhanced photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the extended absorption in the visible light region resulting from the BiOI nanosheets and the effective separation of photogenerated carriers driven by the photo-induced potential difference generated at the Bi4Ti3O12–BiOI p–n junction interface.

TL;DR: In this article, the accuracy of hybrid long short-term memory neural network and ant lion optimizer model (LSTM-ALO) in prediction of monthly runoff was investigated.
Abstract: Accurate runoff forecasting plays an important role in management and utilization of water resources. This paper investigates the accuracy of hybrid long short-term memory neural network and ant lion optimizer model (LSTM–ALO) in prediction of monthly runoff. As the parameters of long short-term memory neural network (LSTM) have influence on the prediction performance, the parameters of the LSTM are calibrated by using ant lion optimizer. Then the selection of suitable input variables of the LSTM–ALO is discussed for monthly runoff forecasting. Finally, we decompose root mean square error into three parts, which can help us better understanding the origin of differences between the observed and predicted runoff. To test the merits of the LSTM–ALO for monthly runoff forecasting, other models are employed to compare with the LSTM–ALO. The scatter-plots and box-plots are adopted for evaluating the performance of all models. In the case study, simulation results with the historical monthly runoff of the Astor River Basin show that the LSTM–ALO model has higher accuracy than that of other models. Therefore, the proposed LSTM–ALO provides an effective method for monthly runoff forecasting.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the HTD2 gene could negatively regulate tiller bud outgrowth by the strigolactone pathway.
Abstract: Tiller number is highly regulated by controlling the formation of tiller bud and its subsequent outgrowth in response to endogenous and environmental signals. Here, we identified a rice mutant htd2 from one of the 15,000 transgenic rice lines, which is characterized by a high tillering and dwarf phenotype. Phenotypic analysis of the mutant showed that the mutation did not affect formation of tiller bud, but promoted the subsequent outgrowth of tiller bud. To isolate the htd2 gene, a map-based cloning strategy was employed and 17 new insertions-deletions (InDels) markers were developed. A high-resolution physical map of the chromosomal region around the htd2 gene was made using the F(2) and F(3) population. Finally, the gene was mapped in 12.8 kb region between marker HT41 and marker HT52 within the BAC clone OSJNBa0009J13. Cloning and sequencing of the target region from the mutant showed that the T-DNA insertion caused a 463 bp deletion between the promoter and first exon of an esterase/lipase/thioesterase family gene in the 12.8 kb region. Furthermore, transgenic rice with reduced expression level of the gene exhibited an enhanced tillering and dwarf phenotype. Accordingly, the esterase/lipase/thioesterase family gene (TIGR locus Os03g10620) was identified as the HTD2 gene. HTD2 transcripts were expressed mainly in leaf. Loss of function of HTD2 resulted in a significantly increased expression of HTD1, D10 and D3, which were involved in the strigolactone biosynthetic pathway. The results suggest that the HTD2 gene could negatively regulate tiller bud outgrowth by the strigolactone pathway.

TL;DR: In this paper, a highly stable luminescent heterometallic MOF, [NaEu2(TATAB)2(DMF)3]·OH (CTGU-7), was synthesized, which was demonstrated to be the first known MOF for the selective detection of oridazole antibiotics.
Abstract: Herein, a highly stable luminescent heterometallic MOF, [NaEu2(TATAB)2(DMF)3]·OH (CTGU-7, H3TATAB = 4,4′,4′′-s-triazine-1,3,5-triyltri-m-aminobenzoic acid, DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide, CTGU = China Three Gorges University), was synthesized. CTGU-7 crystallizes in a highly symmetric cubic framework with the pyrite-type topology, constructed from a novel Eu2Na trimeric cluster as a 6-connected node. Observably, this framework remains intact in a remarkably extensive environment such as in a common solvent and aqueous solutions. CTGU-7 is demonstrated to be the first known MOF for the selective detection of oridazole antibiotics. It also exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity for nitrophenol and benzyl alcohol. Thus, this material can potentially be used as a multi-responsive luminescent sensor.
