TL;DR: In this article, two-dimensional polyimide-linked phthalocyanine COFs with a four-connected sql net exhibit AA stacking configurations according to powder X-ray diffraction studies, showing permanent porosity, thermal stability above 300 °C and excellent resistance to a 12 M HCl aqueous solution for 20 days.
Abstract: The rapid development in synthesis methodology and applications for covalent organic frameworks (COFs) has been witnessed in recent years. However, the synthesis of highly stable functional COFs still remains a great challenge. Herein two-dimensional polyimide-linked phthalocyanine COFs (denoted as CoPc-PI-COF-1 and CoPc-PI-COF-2) have been devised and prepared through the solvothermal reaction of the tetraanhydrides of 2,3,9,10,16,17,23,24-octacarboxyphthalocyaninato cobalt(II) with 1,4-phenylenediamine and 4,4'-biphenyldiamine, respectively. The resultant CoPc-PI-COFs with a four-connected sql net exhibit AA stacking configurations according to powder X-ray diffraction studies, showing permanent porosity, thermal stability above 300 °C, and excellent resistance to a 12 M HCl aqueous solution for 20 days. Current-voltage curves reveal the conductivity of CoPc-PI-COF-1 and CoPc-PI-COF-2 with the value of 3.7 × 10-3 and 1.6 × 10-3 S m-1, respectively. Due to the same Co(II) electroactive sites together with similar permanent porosity and CO2 adsorption capacity for CoPc-PI-COFs, the cathodes made up of COFs and carbon black display a similar CO2-to-CO Faradaic efficiency of 87-97% at applied potentials between -0.60 and -0.90 V (vs RHE) in 0.5 M KHCO3 solution. However, in comparison with the CoPc-PI-COF-2&carbon black electrode, the CoPc-PI-COF-1 counterpart provides a larger current density (jCO) of -21.2 mA cm-2 at -0.90 V associated with its higher conductivity. This cathode also has a high turnover number and turnover frequency, amounting to 277 000 and 2.2 s-1 at -0.70 V during 40 h of measurement. The present result clearly discloses the great potential of 2D porous crystalline solids in electrocatalysis.

TL;DR: Two different metal sites were sequentially placed on the linear linker and the tetratopic porphyrinic linker, respectively, giving rise to an ideal platform for heterogeneous catalysis, allowing the incorporation of a wide range of functional moieties.
Abstract: Multi-component metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with precisely controlled pore environments are highly desired owing to their potential applications in gas adsorption, separation, cooperative catalysis, and biomimetics. A series of multi-component MOFs, namely PCN-900(RE), were constructed from a combination of tetratopic porphyrinic linkers, linear linkers, and rare-earth hexanuclear clusters (RE6 ) under the guidance of thermodynamics. These MOFs exhibit high surface areas (up to 2523 cm2 g-1 ) and unlimited tunability by modification of metal nodes and/or linker components. Post-synthetic exchange of linear linkers and metalation of two organic linkers were realized, allowing the incorporation of a wide range of functional moieties. Two different metal sites were sequentially placed on the linear linker and the tetratopic porphyrinic linker, respectively, giving rise to an ideal platform for heterogeneous catalysis.

TL;DR: In this paper, a visible-light-induced Pt/BiVO 4 composite photocatalyst has been synthesized by the impregnation method, where the Pt element is present as PtCl 4 and disperses in the composite samples.
Abstract: Visible-light-induced Pt/BiVO 4 composite photocatalyst has been synthesized by the impregnation method. The composition, crystallinity and photo-absorption of the as-prepared samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV–vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that the visible light absorption of the Pt/BiVO 4 photocatalyst is greatly enhanced. The Pt element is present as PtCl 4 and disperses in the composite samples. Photocatalytic activities of the Pt/BiVO 4 samples were evaluated by the methyl orange decomposition under visible light irradiation. The results indicate that the photocatalytic efficiency is significantly improved after the Pt species was loaded. On the basis of experimental results, the mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic activity has been discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors constructed a rock physics workflow to link the elastic properties of shales to complex constituents and specific microstructure attributes using the core and well log data from the Barnett Shale, and demonstrate the application of the constructed templates for the evaluation of porosity, lithology and brittleness index.
Abstract: We construct a rock physics workflow to link the elastic properties of shales to complex constituents and specific microstructure attributes. The key feature in our rock physics model is the degrees of preferred orientation of clay and kerogen particles defined by the proportions of such particles in their total content. The self-consistent approximation method and Backus averaging method are used to consider the isotropic distribution and preferred orientation of compositions and pores in shales. Using the core and well log data from the Barnett Shale, we demonstrate the application of the constructed templates for the evaluation of porosity, lithology and brittleness index. Then, we investigate the brittleness index defined in terms of mineralogy and geomechanical properties. The results show that as clay content increases, Poisson's ratio tends to increase and Young's modulus tends to decrease. Moreover, we find that Poisson's ratio is more sensitive to the variation in the texture of shales resulting from the preferred orientation of clay particles. Finally, based on the constructed rock physics model, we calculate AVO responses from the top and bottom of the Barnett Shale, and the results indicate predictable trends for the variations in porosity, lithology and brittleness index in shales.
