TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use the Planck 353 GHz I, Q, and U Stokes maps as dust templates, and cross-correlate them with the planck and WMAP data at 12 frequencies from 23 to 353 GHz, over circular patches with 10° radius.
Abstract: Planck has mapped the intensity and polarization of the sky at microwave frequencies with unprecedented sensitivity. We use these data to characterize the frequency dependence of dust emission. We make use of the Planck 353 GHz I, Q, and U Stokes maps as dust templates, and cross-correlate them with the Planck and WMAP data at 12 frequencies from 23 to 353 GHz, over circular patches with 10° radius. The cross-correlation analysis is performed for both intensity and polarization data in a consistent manner. The results are corrected for the chance correlation between the templates and the anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background. We use a mask that focuses our analysis on the diffuse interstellar medium at intermediate Galactic latitudes. We determine the spectral indices of dust emission in intensity and polarization between 100 and 353 GHz, for each sky patch. Both indices are found to be remarkably constant over the sky. The mean values, 1.59 ± 0.02 for polarization and 1.51 ± 0.01 for intensity, for a mean dust temperature of 19.6 K, are close, but significantly different (3.6σ). We determine the mean spectral energy distribution (SED) of the microwave emission, correlated with the 353 GHz dust templates, by averaging the results of the correlation over all sky patches. We find that the mean SED increases for decreasing frequencies at ν< 60 GHz for both intensity and polarization. The rise of the polarization SED towards low frequencies may be accounted for by a synchrotron component correlated with dust, with no need for any polarization of the anomalous microwave emission. We use a spectral model to separate the synchrotron and dust polarization and to characterize the spectral dependence of the dust polarization fraction. The polarization fraction (p) of the dust emission decreases by (21 ± 6)% from 353 to 70 GHz. We discuss this result within the context of existing dust models. The decrease in p could indicate differences in polarization efficiency among components of interstellar dust (e.g., carbon versus silicate grains). Our observational results provide inputs to quantify and optimize the separation between Galactic and cosmological polarization.

TL;DR: The results are compatible with the view that retrograde amnesia is both extensive and ungraded when the damage is limited to the hippocampus, and suggest that the hippocampus is critical not only for the efficient encoding and hence normal recall of new information but also for the recall of episodic information acquired before the onset of amnesia.

TL;DR: In this article, the supersymmetric Wilson loops in d = 3 N = 4 super Chern-Simons-matter theory obtained from non-chiral orbifold of ABJM theory were investigated in both Minkowski spacetime and Euclidean space.
Abstract: We investigate the supersymmetric Wilson loops in d = 3 N = 4 super Chern-Simons-matter theory obtained from non-chiral orbifold of ABJM theory. We work in both Minkowski spacetime and Euclidean space, and we construct 1/4 and 1/2 BPS Wilson loops. We also provide a complete proof that the difference between 1/4 and 1/2 Wilson loops is Q-exact with Q being some supercharge that is preserved by both the 1/4 and 1/2 Wilson loops. This plays an important role in applying the localization techniques to compute the vacuum expectation values of Wilson loops. We also study the M-theory dual of the 1/2 BPS circular Wilson loop.

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence and properties of a nontrivial fixed point in f(R)-gravity, where f is a polynomial of order up to six, were discussed.
Abstract: We discuss the existence and properties of a nontrivial fixed point in f(R)-gravity, where f is a polynomial of order up to six. Within this seven-parameter class of theories, the fixed point has three ultraviolet-attractive and four ultraviolet-repulsive directions; this brings further support to the hypothesis that gravity is nonperturbatively renormalizabile.

TL;DR: In this paper, the gamma-ray luminosities of FRI radio galaxies are significantly smaller than those of BL Lac objects detected by the LAT, whereas the FRII sources are quite similar to those of FSRQs, which could reflect different beaming factors for the gamma radiation emission.
Abstract: Analysis is presented on 15 months of data taken with the Large Area Telescope (LAT) on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope for 11 non-blazar AGNs, including 7 FRI radio galaxies and 4 FRII radio sources consisting of 2 FRII radio galaxies and 2 steep spectrum radio quasars. The broad line FRI radio galaxy 3C 120 is reported here as a gamma-ray source for the first time. The analysis is based on directional associations of LAT sources with radio sources in the 3CR, 3CRR and MS4 (collectively referred to as 3C-MS) catalogs. Seven of the eleven LAT sources associated with 3C-MS radio sources have spectral indices larger than 2.3 and, except for the FRI radio galaxy NGC 1275 that shows possible spectral curvature, are well described by a power law. No evidence for time variability is found for any sources other than NGC 1275. The gamma-ray luminosities of FRI radio galaxies are significantly smaller than those of BL Lac objects detected by the LAT, whereas the gamma-ray luminosities of FRII sources are quite similar to those of FSRQs, which could reflect different beaming factors for the gamma-ray emission. A core dominance study of the 3CRR sample indicate that sources closer to the jet axis are preferentially detected with the Fermi-LAT, insofar as the gamma-ray--detected misaligned AGNs have larger core dominance at a given average radio flux. The results are discussed in view of the AGN unification scenario.
