TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the relationship between the soin and pediatrie and the notion of "vulnerability" in pediatrières, i.e., the ability of a physician to "tenter de toujours se maintenir dans un etre en prise avec l’enfant without exercer sur lui une emprise".

TL;DR: This research showed fear as a prominent emotion experienced and several solutions were proposed to help mitigate this fear to keep it from becoming a destructive force in the healthcare provider—patient relationship.
Abstract: Ensuring patient participation in healthcare decision making remains a difficult task. Factors such as a lack of time in the consultation, medical objectivation, or the difficulties of translating individual patient experience into the treatment plan have been shown to limit patient contributions. Little research attention has focused however on how emotions experienced by both the patient and the healthcare provider may affect the ability of the patient to participate. In this research, patient's and healthcare provider's emotions were identified and analysed. The research method showed fear as a prominent emotion experienced. This included patient's fears both inside and outside the consultation, as well as the healthcare provider's fears in their professional practice. Using Martha Nussbaum's cognitive-evaluative theory of emotions as an additional means of analysis, the research looked at what this emotion could show about the importance of the object of this fear to the person's eudaimonia (flourishing). At the end of the article, several solutions were proposed to help mitigate this fear to keep it from becoming a destructive force in the healthcare provider-patient relationship.

TL;DR: The importance of the population level in the construction of our knowledge of the normal and the pathological does, however, call for reflection on the role and the status of population level of organization in our approach to health phenomena as discussed by the authors, and the entanglement of the biological and the social in human life and in contemporary societies justifies this level of analysis for better understanding the complexity and the interaction of health determinants both at the level of individuals and their interactions.
Abstract: Canguilhem criticized the concept of "public health": health and disease are concepts that only apply to individuals, taken as organic totalities. Their extension to a different level of organization is purely metaphorical. The importance assumed by epidemiology in the construction of our knowledge of the normal and the pathological does, however, call for reflection on the role and the status of the population level of organization in our approach to health phenomena. The entanglement of the biological and the social in human life and in contemporary societies justifies this level of analysis for better understanding the complexity and the interaction of health determinants both at the level of individuals and their interactions and at that of the population. But is this population level just a useful level of analysis that makes it possible to bring to light the social determinants of health at the individual level, or does it rest instead on characteristics of the population that are irreducible to individual characteristics, but which are nevertheless important for understanding and taking action with respect to both population and individual health? Defending this second alternative, I show how the epidemiological point of view, and in particular that of social epidemiology, leads us to rethink the possibility of a concept of "population health" that is not reducible to the sum of individual instances of health.

TL;DR: In this article, a cadre d'analyse global and systemique is developed to assist petites and moyennes entreprises in optimising le choix de leur mode d'entree dans les marches etrangers.
