TL;DR: An 8 year old child who presented with right lower quadrant abdominal pain and was clinically diagnosed as perforated appendix was clinical diagnosed as appendicitis and an emergency appendicectomy was performed.
Abstract: Appendicitis is an extremely common presentation to general surgery in both adult and paediatric practice. Volvulus or torsion of the vermiform appendix, which is currently indistinguishable clinically from appendicitis, is an uncommon surgical emergency in children. Only a few cases are reported in the literature concerning this subject. We describe an 8 year old child who presented with right lower quadrant abdominal pain and was clinically diagnosed as perforated appendix. Laparotomy revealed a volvulus of the appendix and an emergency appendicectomy was performed. Bang Med J (Khulna) 2015; 48 : 32-33

TL;DR: In this article, the advantage of ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast disease and screening of breast cancer was evaluated in women with high resolution mammography and ultrasound images of both breast regions.
Abstract: Background: Mammography and ultrasound examinations for diagnosis and staging of breast problems have been traditionally performed in specialized facilities, which circumstances are associated with increased costs and inconvenience for patients. Point of care or clinical office provision of high resolution ultrasound may allow addressing these equity barriers to health services, but there are limited data in Bangladesh about such practice and the associated quality of care. Objective: To ascertain the advantage of ultrasonogram in the diagnosis of breast disease and screening of breast cancer. Methods: From February through November 2014, 1085 women presented to the Amader Gram Breast Care Center in Khulna. In each of these women in addition to standard history and physical examination, a high resolution ultrasound scan was performed of both breasts. Standard clinical and ultrasound practice definitions of breast conditions were applied to each case by an specialist surgeon trained in breast sonology. Results: Two thirds of women had history, physical examination and ultrasound findings consistent with fibrocystic conditions. 12% had fibro adenomas, 5% inflammatory infectious conditions, 2% obvious or strongly suspected breast malignacy, and 1% had masses of uncertain nature. 3% had more than one abnormal breast condition and 3% had no breast abnormalities at all. The overwhelming majority of women benefitted from having ultrasound examination which contributed to prompt, definitive characterization of their breast conditions and which pictorial demonstration contributed to patient education about the clinical diagnosis. Conclusion: Point of care high resolution breast ultrasound can contribute favorably to quality and equity of care for Bangladeshi women with breast problems. Bang Med J (Khulna) 2016; 49 : 3-6

TL;DR: The use of misoprostol results in a shorter induction to delivery time and miserable adverse effects on the method of delivery.
Abstract: Background: Misoprostol is very useful for induction of labour among the pregnant women. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to see the indication and complication of induction of labour by misoprostol among pregnancy women. Methodology: This single center clinical trial was carried out in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at a private hospital in Dhaka city, Bangladesh from September 2005 to February 2006 for a period of six months. Primi or second gravida patients with the gestational age between 37 weeks to 42 weeks in singleton pregnancy with cephalic presentation and not in labour were selected as study population. After proper selection of the cases, induction of labour was done by applying tablet misoprostol 50mcg in the posterior vaginal fornix. Complication of induction were recorded. Result: A total number of 60 patients were recruited for this study. 24 patients were between 23 to 26 years and 12 patients were between 27 to 30 years. Pre-eclampsia, pregnancy induced hypertension and intrauterine growth retardation were the most common indication of induction. In this study 31(51.7%) patients needed only 1 dose of Misoprostol and 24 (40.0%) patients needed 2 doses and only 5(8.3%) patients needed 3 doses of Misoprostal. In this study 11.67% patients experienced Nausea & vomiting and 3.33% patients developed hyperstimulation. Conclusion: In the conclusion, the use of misoprostol results in a shorter induction to delivery time and miserable adverse effects on the method of delivery. TL;DR: Findings are indicative that C. grandis may be useful against microbial diseases and exhibited moderate to good activity at concentration of 200 μg/disc against the tested bacteria.
Abstract: Antibacterial activity and toxicity of ethanol extract of Cassia grandis leaves to Brine Shrimp was evaluated. Five Gram-positive and 4 Gram-negative bacteria, namely Sarcina lutea , Bacillus megaterium , Bacillus subtilis , Streptococcus s-haemolyticus , Staphylococcus aureus , Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Escherichia coli , Salmonella typhi and Klebsiella pneumoniae were tested using disc diffusion method. The extract was inactive at the concentration of 30 μg/disc but exhibited moderate to good activity at concentration of 200 μg/disc against the tested bacteria. In Brine Bhrimp lethality bioassay test, it was observed that LC 50 value of the extract was 10.68 μg/ml. From these findings, it is indicative that C. grandis may be useful against microbial diseases.
