TL;DR: Upgraded with the developed approach for quantitative data interpretation, the bubble-pressure tensiometry could be a useful tool for a detailed analysis of the adsorption processes in more complex systems.
Abstract: Here, based on the theoretical analysis of results for two ionic surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide (DTAB), we develop a new approach for quantitative interpretation of data from the maximum bubble pressure method. A given tensiometer is characterized by an apparatus function, A(t), and by an apparatus constant. The former represents the time dependence of the bubble surface area, whereas the latter is expressed through integrals of A(t). The experiment indicates that both of them are independent of the surfactant type and concentration. Moreover, if a certain criterion is satisfied, the experimental results depend on the surface dilatation only through the apparatus constant. This makes the data interpretation much easier. The knowledge of the apparatus constant gives a general time scale (universal surface age) that makes the results independent of the specific bubble-pressure setup and produces dynamic surface tension curves that are universal characteristic...

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for the standard model Higgs boson (H) decaying to a b-quark pair when produced in association with weak vector bosons (V) is reported for the following modes: W(mu,nu)H, W(e,nu), H, Z(m,mu), H and Z(nu,nu).
Abstract: A search for the standard model Higgs boson (H) decaying to a b-quark pair when produced in association with weak vector bosons (V) is reported for the following modes: W(mu,nu)H, W(e,nu)H, Z(mu,mu)H, Z(e,e)H and Z(nu,nu)H. The search is performed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 inverse femtobarns, recorded by the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. No significant excess of events above the expectation from background is observed. Upper limits on the VH production cross section times the H to b-quark pair branching ratio, with respect to the expectations for a standard model Higgs boson, are derived for a Higgs boson in the mass range 110-135 GeV. In this range, the observed 95% confidence level upper limits vary from 3.4 to 7.5 times the standard model prediction; the corresponding expected limits vary from 2.7 to 6.7.

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for exclusive or quasi-exclusive γγ → W+W− production, via pp → p(*)W+W+p(*) → p (*)μ±e∓p(*) at √s=8 TeV, is reported using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb^(−1).
Abstract: A search for exclusive or quasi-exclusive γγ → W+W− production, via pp → p(*)W+W−p(*) → p(*)μ±e∓p(*) at √s=8 TeV, is reported using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb^(−1). Events are selected by requiring the presence of an electron-muon pair with large transverse momentum pT(μ±e∓) > 30 GeV, and no associated charged particles detected from the same vertex. The 8 TeV results are combined with the previous 7 TeV results (obtained for 5.05 fb^(−1) of data). In the signal region, 13 (2) events are observed over an expected background of 3.9 ± 0.6 (0.84 ± 0.15) events for 8 (7) TeV, resulting in a combined excess of 3.4σ over the background-only hypothesis. The observed yields and kinematic distributions are compatible with the standard model prediction for exclusive and quasi-exclusive γγ → W+W− production. Upper limits on the anomalous quartic gauge coupling operators a_(0,C)^W (dimension-6) and f_(M0,1,2,3) (dimension-8), the most stringent to date, are derived from the measured dilepton transverse momentum spectrum.
