TL;DR: The similarities of the growth defects caused by mutations in chico and the insulin receptor gene in Drosophila and by perturbations of the insulin/IGF1 signaling pathway in vertebrates suggest that this pathway plays a conserved role in the regulation of overall growth by controling cell size, cell number, and metabolism.

TL;DR: When a DNA molecule, enzymatically labelled with 32p at one end, is partially digested with a restriction enzyme labelled tdna fragments are obtained which form an overlapping series of molecules, all with a common labelled terminus, a restriction map can be constructed from an analysis of the size distribution of these molecules.
Abstract: When a DNA molecule, enzymatically labelled with 32p at one end, is partially digested with a restriction enzyme labelled tdna fragments are obtained which form an overlapping series of molecules, all with a common labelled terminus. ta restriction map can then be constructed from an analysis of the size distribution of these molecules. This technique has been used for the restriction site mapping of cloned histone DNA (h22) where as many as 35 cleavage sites may be accurately determined in a single experiment.

TL;DR: Nucleotide excision repair is the principal way by which human cells remove UV damage from DNA by combining DNA polymerase epsilon, RFC, PCNA, and DNA ligase I with ERCC1- and XPF-correcting activity.

TL;DR: A highly regular mesh of hexagonal boron nitride with a 3-nanometer periodicity and a 2-nanometers hole size was formed by self-assembly on a Rh(111) single crystalline surface that can serve as a template to organize molecules, as is exemplified by the decoration of the mesh by C60 molecules.
Abstract: A highly regular mesh of hexagonal boron nitride with a 3-nanometer periodicity and a 2-nanometer hole size was formed by self-assembly on a Rh(111) single crystalline surface. Two layers of mesh cover the surface uniformly after high-temperature exposure of the clean rhodium surface to borazine (HBNH) 3 . The two layers are offset in such a way as to expose a minimum metal surface area. Hole formation is likely driven by the lattice mismatch of the film and the rhodium substrate. This regular nanostructure is thermally very stable and can serve as a template to organize molecules, as is exemplified by the decoration of the mesh by C 60 molecules.
