TLDR
Desorption studies reveal that Pb2+ can be easily removed from carbon Nanotubes by altering the pH values of the solution using both HCl and HNO3, indicating that carbon nanotubes are a promising absorbent for wastewater treatment.

Equilibrium and kinetics of heavy metal ion exchange

TL;DR: In this article, a series of ion-exchange equilibrium tests of Cu2+/H+, Zn2/H+ and Cd2+ /H+ systems using Amberlite IR-120 were performed.

Thermodynamics and kinetics of adsorption of Cu(II) onto waste iron oxide.

TL;DR: This study investigates low-cost sorbents as replacements for current costly methods of removing heavy metals from solution by testing F1, which is a by-product of the fluidized-bed reactor (FBR)-Fenton reaction, for use in the treatment of the wastewater in Taiwan.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coating magnetic biochar with humic acid for high efficient removal of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in water.

TL;DR: Characterizations of HAB showed the extensive coating of HA on MBC surface and introducing more oxygen-containing groups, which may promote the adsorption capacity of biochar, and thermodynamic results illustrated that the sorption process was spontaneous and endothermic.

Helical microtubules of graphitic carbon

Sumio Iijima
- 01 Nov 1991 -
TL;DR: Iijima et al. as mentioned in this paper reported the preparation of a new type of finite carbon structure consisting of needle-like tubes, which were produced using an arc-discharge evaporation method similar to that used for fullerene synthesis.

Storage of hydrogen in single-walled carbon nanotubes

TL;DR: In this article, a gas can condense to high density inside narrow, single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) under conditions that do not induce adsorption within a standard mesoporous activated carbon.

Stress-induced fragmentation of multiwall carbon nanotubes in a polymer matrix

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report the observation of single nanotube fragmentation, under tensile stresses, using nanotubes-containing thin polymeric films, and they estimate that the multi-wall multi-nanotube-matrix stress transfer efficiency is at least one order of magnitude larger than in conventional fiber-based composites.
