The effects of desert dust storms, air pollution, and temperature on morbidity due to spontaneous abortions and toxemia of pregnancy: 5-year analysis

TL;DR: Investigation of the association between desert dust storms, particulate matter with a diameter ≤10 μm (PM10), daily temperatures, and toxemia of pregnancy and spontaneous abortion in Gaziantep, South East Turkey found that presence of dust storms was positively associated with the toxemic of pregnancy both in outpatient admissions and inpatient hospitalizations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between temporal anomalies in PM2.5 concentrations and reported influenza/influenza-like illness activity.

TL;DR: This study obtained concurrent PM2.5 mass concentration data, meteorological data and reported Influenza and influenza-like illness activity for the light to moderately polluted atmospheres over the Tucson, AZ region to improve the understanding of ILI transmission and thereby improve ILI activity/outbreak forecasts and transmission model accuracies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bioaccumulation of Toxic Metals in Children Exposed to Urban Pollution and to Cement Plant Emissions.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that children living and attending school in an urban area exposed to cement plant emissions show a chronic bioaccumulation of toxic metals, and a significant exposure to PM10 pollution.
Journal Article

Comparitive study of particulate matter (PM10 and pm2.5) in Dalian-China and Faisalabad-Pakistan.

TL;DR: In densely populated countries like Pakistan and Chine air pollution has become a serious threat mainly due to industrial establishment and un-controlled discharged of air polluting agents, therefore more and more attention is being paid to the exposure assessment of PM2.5.

The health benefits of attaining and strengthening air quality standards in Cape Town

TL;DR: In this paper, the benefits mapping and analysis program (BenMAP) along with a locally derived exposure-response function and air quality monitor data were used to investigate whether the consistent attainment of current or more stringent air quality standards would avoid loss of life.
