Ambient exposure to coarse and fine particle emissions from building demolition

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured concentrations of PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 along with local meteorology for 54 working hours over the demolition period, at a fixed site in the downwind of demolished building, around the site during demolition operation through mobile monitoring, and different distances away from the demolition site through sequential monitoring, inside an excavator vehicle cabin and on-site temporary office for engineers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metal concentration and bioaccessibility in different particle sizes of dust and aerosols to refine metal exposure assessment.

TL;DR: Significant differences between external and simulated internal exposure were attributed to dissemblances in gastric and lung bioaccessibilities, as well as metal distribution within particle size range, revealing the importance of both parameters in exposure assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI

PM 2.5 : global progress in controlling the motor vehicle contribution

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that vehicle particulate emissions in the range of 2.5 microns (PM2.5) can cause a wide variety of adverse health effects, such as carcinogenicity and high ratio of black carbon (BC) to organic carbon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Particle exposure level and potential health risks of domestic Chinese cooking

TL;DR: The COF exposure level during a typical Chinese domestic cooking process is measured to evaluate whether a short-term exposure at this level entails deleterious cardiopulmonary, inflammatory health effects and oxidative stress and whether a single short- term exposure of around 20 min does not explicitly entail significant health risks.
