Abstract
We report the experimental discovery of intrinsic ferromagnetism in Cr 2 Ge 2 Te 6 atomic layers by scanning magneto-optic Kerr microscopy. In this 2D van der Waals ferromagnet, unprecedented control of transition temperature is realized via small magnetic fields.

Skyrmions in twisted van der Waals magnets

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that skyrmions can also be stabilized in twisted moir\'e superlattices with a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction in the absence of an external magnetic field.

Anomalous Hall effect, magneto-optical properties, and nonlinear optical properties of twisted graphene systems

TL;DR: In this article, the anomalous Hall effect, magneto-optical properties, and nonlinear optical properties of twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) aligned with hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) substrate as well as twisted double bilayer graph graphene systems were studied.

Electronic and Magnetic Characterization of Epitaxial CrBr3 Monolayers on a Superconducting Substrate

TL;DR: Low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy measurements show a slight reduction of the superconducting gap of NbSe2 and the formation of a vortex lattice on the CrBr3 layer in experiments under an external magnetic field, which contribute to the broader framework of exploiting proximity effects to realize novel phenomena in 2D heterostructures.

The rise of graphene

TL;DR: Owing to its unusual electronic spectrum, graphene has led to the emergence of a new paradigm of 'relativistic' condensed-matter physics, where quantum relativistic phenomena can now be mimicked and tested in table-top experiments.

QUANTUM ESPRESSO: a modular and open-source software project for quantum simulations of materials

TL;DR: QUANTUM ESPRESSO as discussed by the authors is an integrated suite of computer codes for electronic-structure calculations and materials modeling, based on density functional theory, plane waves, and pseudopotentials (norm-conserving, ultrasoft, and projector-augmented wave).

Absence of Ferromagnetism or Antiferromagnetism in One- or Two-Dimensional Isotropic Heisenberg Models

TL;DR: In this paper, it is rigorously proved that at any nonzero temperature, a one- or two-dimensional isotropic spin-S$ Heisenberg model with finite-range exchange interaction can be neither ferromagnetic nor antiferromagnetic.

Half-metallic graphene nanoribbons

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that if in-plane homogeneous electric fields are applied across the zigzag-shaped edges of the graphene nanoribbons, their magnetic properties can be controlled by the external electric fields.
