Effect of curing temperature on hydraulic backfill performance with consideration of a new type of binder
TL;DR: In this article, the role played by sodium silicate with different binders as a new additive in strength acquisition of mixtures was investigated and extensive laboratory testing program has been conducted to investigate the parameters affecting both the long and the short term physical, mechanical properties of such mixtures with special reference to the curing temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Screening Tool to Assess Adequacy of Bridge Timber Pile Bents during Extreme Scour Events
TL;DR: In this paper, a screening tool was developed to assist the Alabama DOT in assessing the adequacy of bridge pile bents for extreme flood and scour events, and the evaluation procedure employed in the screening tool is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Limit design of axisymmetric shells with application to cellular cofferdams
P. de Buhan,Alain Corfdir +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the limit design of cellular cofferdams that are regarded as mixed structures where the backfill is modeled as a three-dimensional continuum, while the surrounding sheet pile wall is treated as a cylindrical shell.

Artificial neural network model for predicting load capacity of driven piles
Alcineide Dutra Pessoa,Gean Carlos Lopes de Sousa,Rodrigo da Cruz de Araujo,Gérson Jacques Miranda dos Anjos +3 more
TL;DR: This work proposes a mathematical model based on artificial intelligence focused on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) learning capable of predicting the load capacity for driven piles and finds that the proposed neural model presented correlation with field values above 90%, reaching 96% in the best result.
