TL;DR: Although the majority of patients fail to reach recommended iPTH values, parathyroidectomy remains a valuable tool to attain these NKF-K/DOQI recommendations for serum calcium, phosphorus and CaxPO4 in dialysis patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism resistant to medical therapy.
