TL;DR: It is shown that phosphate directly inhibits the calcium-sensing receptor, the main regulator of parathyroid hormone secretion, and raises phosphate concentration within the pathophysiologic range for CKD significantly inhibits CaSR activity via non-competitive antagonism.
