Kidney bone disease and mortality in CKD: revisiting the role of vitamin D, calcimimetics, alkaline phosphatase, and minerals

TL;DR: A critical review of 14 common and clinically relevant conditions of contemporary nature related to the kidney bone disease, including calcitriol (active vitamin D) deficiency, 25(OH)-vitamin D deficiency, biochemical hyperparathyroidism, relatively low parathyroid hormone (PTH) level, and increased serum alkaline phosphatase (hyperphosphatasemia).
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma endocan levels associate with inflammation, vascular abnormalities, cardiovascular events, and survival in chronic kidney disease

TL;DR: Plasma endocan increases in the presence of decreasing eGFR and influences all-cause mortality and CVE in patients with CKD independent of traditional and nontraditional risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measures of Renal Function, BMD, Bone Loss, and Osteoporotic Fracture in Older Adults: The Rancho Bernardo Study
